What it is

EQ8 CLEAR Sanitising Handrub is a hypochlorous based hygienic handrub, certified to EN 1500 (hygienic handrub, bactericidal).[1] It is the higher-viscosity formulation in the EQ8 handrub range.

How it works

Hypochlorous is the molecule that white blood cells called neutrophils make to destroy microbes they have engulfed.[3] It reacts within milliseconds with the sulphur-containing parts of proteins, so several vital systems in a microbe fail at once.[4][5] Once released, it breaks down in light to chloride and oxygen, with an estimated half-life of 1 to 4 hours, and it does not build up in living things.[6]

How hypochlorous works

Caution

For external use only. Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children. Do not apply to irritated skin. Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly. If accidentally ingested, seek medical advice as a precautionary measure. Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.[1] Use within 24 months of opening. Store below 50 °C.[8]
