Standards and certifications
Every standard, product by product
Supra Perfecta’s data sheets state that independent testing by a UKAS-accredited laboratory demonstrated compliance with the EN standards they list for each product.[12–15]

Certifications as shown on each product's label.[1–4] Hand products carry the handrub tests; surface products are for external use on inanimate surfaces and equipment only.[3][4] Supra Perfecta’s data sheets give the editions tested: EN 1500:2013, EN 13727:2012+A2:2015, EN 13624:2021, EN 14476:2025 for the DEFEND handrub and EN 14476:2013+A2:2019 for the spray and liquid, EN 17126:2018, and for the spray and liquid EN 1276:2019, EN 16777:2018 and EN 17387:2021.[12–15] Certificates are available on request.
Spray and liquid: also tested, according to Supra Perfecta’s data sheets: EN 1276, EN 16777, EN 17387.[14][15]
What each standard means
Three kinds of test
Handrub tests · phase 2, step 2
Tests on people. Volunteers’ hands are deliberately contaminated, the handrub is rubbed in under practical conditions, and the bacteria (EN 1500) or viruses (EN 17430) still released from the hands are measured.[6][7]
Quantitative suspension tests · phase 2, step 1
Tests in the laboratory. The product is mixed with the test organisms and an interfering substance that stands in for dirt, then the survivors are counted after a set contact time.[8] “Medical area” means the conditions are those set for products used in human health care.[8]
- EN 13727 · bactericidal
- Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity in the medical area.[8]
- EN 13624 · yeasticidal
- Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of fungicidal or yeasticidal activity in the medical area.[9]
- EN 14476 · virucidal
- Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of virucidal activity in the medical area.[10]
- EN 17126 · sporicidal
- Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of sporicidal activity of chemical disinfectants in the medical area.[11]
Also on the data sheets · spray and liquid
Supra Perfecta’s data sheets for the spray and liquid list three more tests that are not on the labels.[14][15] Two are surface tests (phase 2, step 2): the product is tested on a contaminated non-porous surface, without wiping or scrubbing.[17][18] One is a suspension test for food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas.[16]
- EN 1276 · bactericidal
- Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas.[16]
- EN 16777 · virucidal
- Quantitative non-porous surface test without mechanical action for the evaluation of virucidal activity of chemical disinfectants used in the medical area.[17]
- EN 17387 · bactericidal, yeasticidal, fungicidal
- Quantitative test for the evaluation of bactericidal and yeasticidal and/or fungicidal activity of chemical disinfectants in the medical area on non-porous surfaces without mechanical action.[18]
Scope. All six standards on the EQ8 labels are medical-area tests.[1][2][3][4] Supra Perfecta’s data sheets for the spray and liquid add two medical-area surface tests, EN 16777 and EN 17387, and EN 1276, a suspension test for food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas.[14][15] Neither the labels nor the data sheets list veterinary-area tests, such as EN 1656 or EN 14675.
